Buying behaviours change during times of day, and days of week but instead of optimizing for this most of us are wasting budget trying to show ads to everyone at all times.

For example, imagine you had a $3,000/month budget 💰

  • 30 days = $100/day (Monday-Sunday) 
  • 20 days = $150/day (Monday-Friday) 

That’s a 50% increase in daily budget by concentrating across 5 days instead of 7. 

Now let’s look at the distribution by time for a daily budget of $100:

  • 24hrs = $4.16/hr 
  • 8hrs = $12.5/hr 

That’s a 200% increase in daily budget by hour by concentrating across 8 instead of 24. 

This also assumes your budget is spread evenly across every hour of the day. If you’ve run ads before, you know that isn’t how it actually works 😅

Most budgets are gone by 12PM, leaving the rest of the day with zero impressions and zero reach, which is why ad scheduling is so important.
